Built by Someone Who's Been There

Dr. Deepak, MD
Board-Certified Psychiatrist | Community College Graduate | USC Keck School of Medicine

The Journey That Built Wellity

Dr. Deepak didn't take the traditional path to medical school. He started at community college, working nearly full-time to support himself while taking classes. What should have been a two-year journey took longer—not because of lack of ability, but because he was navigating school with undiagnosed ADHD and zero access to mental health care.
"I had no idea I had ADHD," Dr. Deepak reflects. "I just thought I wasn't working hard enough, wasn't focused enough. I watched classmates transfer on time while I struggled to balance work, school, and symptoms I didn't understand. There was no mental health support available—or if there was, I didn't know how to find it."
He eventually transferred to UC Davis, then went on to medical school, and finally completed his psychiatry residency at USC's Keck School of Medicine. It was during residency at USC—while training to become a psychiatrist—that he finally got diagnosed and treated for ADHD.
The irony wasn't lost on him: He was learning to treat others for the exact condition that had made his own education unnecessarily difficult.
"Every community college student working full-time and struggling with anxiety or depression, every student who doesn't know how to ask for help, every student whose mental health is derailing their education—I see myself in them. And I know that with the right support, at the right time, they can thrive."

Wellity Health was founded on a simple mission: No student should have their educational journey derailed by lack of access to mental health care.

This isn't just a business. It's a mission born from lived experience.

You Deserve More Than a 6-Session Limit and a 3-Week Wait

Campus counseling centers are overwhelmed. Not because they're not good at what they do—but because demand has exploded while resources stayed flat. If you've tried to get help on campus, you know the reality:

Long Wait Times

You're struggling now, but the counseling center can't see you for 2-3 weeks. By the time your appointment comes, you might be in crisis—or you might have given up on getting help at all.

Session Limits

Many campus counseling centers limit students to 6-8 sessions per year. That might be enough for a short-term issue, but if you're dealing with depression, trauma, or ongoing anxiety, you need more than 8 conversations.

Limited Services

Campus counseling centers typically offer therapy, but not psychiatry for medication management. They don't have intensive programs when you need more than weekly sessions. They can't provide specialized treatments like TMS or neuropsych testing.

That's where Wellity comes in. We partner with your campus counseling center to provide what they can't—immediate access, ongoing treatment, psychiatry, and specialized care.

Fast Access. Real Psychiatrists. Flexible Scheduling. Specialized Care.

Wellity Health partners with community colleges, CSUs, UCs, and private universities across California to extend what campus counseling centers can provide. We're not replacing your counseling center—we're making sure you get help when they're at capacity or when you need services they don't offer.

You'll Actually Get Seen Quickly

Most students referred to Wellity get their first appointment within 48 hours—not weeks. Same-day and next-day appointments available for urgent situations. Because when you're ready to get help, waiting feels impossible.
What This Means for You:
  • No 3-week waits when you need help now
  • Crisis appointments same-day or next-day
  • You start treatment while you're motivated, not after you've given up

Evening & Weekend Appointments

Working 30 hours a week? Classes all day? Commuting from home? We get it. That's why we offer evening appointments (6pm, 7pm, 8pm) and if needed weekend sessions. Primarily telehealth so you can attend from wherever you have privacy.
What This Means for You:
  • You don't have to choose between work and mental health
  • No missing class for appointments
  • Therapy fits your schedule, not the other way around

Real Psychiatrists for Medication

If you need medication for depression, anxiety, or ADHD, you'll see an actual board-certified psychiatrist—not just a therapist who can refer you somewhere else and hope you follow through. Therapy and psychiatry coordinated as one team.
What This Means for You:
  • Medication management when you need it
  • No separate referrals to figure out
  • Therapist and psychiatrist actually talk to each other about your care

Intensive Programs When You Need More

Sometimes weekly therapy isn't enough. We offer Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and specialized treatments such as TMS therapy and ketamine when standard treatment isn't working.
What This Means for You:
  • You don't fall through the cracks when things get challenging
  • Alternatives to taking medical leave or dropping out
  • Specialized care most campus counseling centers simply can't provide

Getting Help Is Simpler Than You Think

01
Talk to Your Campus Counseling Center
If you're already working with campus counseling, ask them about Wellity services. They can refer you directly.
If you haven't connected with campus counseling yet, that's your first stop—they'll help determine what level of care you need and whether Wellity services are right for you.
02
We Contact You Within 24 Hours
Once your counseling center refers you, our intake team reaches out to schedule your first appointment. We handle insurance verification and scheduling—you just need to show up.
03
Start Treatment Fast
Most students get their first appointment within 48 hours. Sessions can be telehealth (video from wherever you're comfortable) or in-person depending on what you need and where you're located.

Cost to You

For most students: Little to no cost.
Through campus partnerships and health plan coverage, the majority of students we serve pay nothing or very minimal copays. We work with Medi-Cal, Kaiser, most major insurance, and campus-funded programs.
When you're referred, we'll verify your coverage so you know exactly what to expect. We never want cost to be a barrier.

What Students Want to Know

Will my parents find out I'm in therapy?
If you're 18 or older, your therapy iscompletely confidential. We can't share anything with your parents (or anyoneelse) without your written permission. Your campus won't know the details ofwhat you talk about in sessions—only that you're receiving services. The only exceptions are serious safetysituations: if you're at risk of hurting yourself or someone else, or ifthere's child abuse involved.
I don't think therapy works / I tried it before and it didn't help.
We hear this a lot. If therapy didn't help before, it might be because:
  • The therapist wasn't the right fit
  • The approach wasn't right for what you needed
  • You didn't have enough time (6-8 sessions isn't enough for many issues)
  • Other things in your life made it hard to engage
We match you with therapists who specialize in college student issues, we use approaches proven to work, and we don't have arbitrary session limits. If something isn't working, we adjust.
Do I need therapy or medication—or both?
You don't have to figure this outyourself. When you have your first appointment, your therapist or psychiatristwill help you understand what might help most.
Generally: Therapy gives you tools andskills. Medication can address biological/chemical aspects of mental health. Many people benefit from both working together.
How often will I have appointments?
Depends on what you need. Most people start with weekly therapy sessions. If you're in crisis or dealing with something severe, you might meet more often initially. Once you're feeling better, some people space out to every other week or monthly.
For psychiatry: You might meet every 1-2 weeks when starting medication, then monthly or every few months once things are stable.
Can I keep my same therapist if I transfer schools or graduate?
If you're staying in California, yes—weserve students statewide through telehealth. If you're moving out of state,we'll help you find appropriate care in your new location and provide a warmtransition.
What if I'm having a mental health crisis?
During business hours: Contact your campus counseling center or call Wellity directly for same-day crisis appointments.
After hours/weekends: Call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) for 24/7 support, or go to your nearest emergency room if you're in immediate danger.
For established Wellity patients: We provide crisis support and coordination for students actively in our care.
What if I don't have insurance or my insurance doesn't cover it?
Through campus partnerships, many students receive services at no cost regardless of insurance status. When you're referred by your counseling center, we verify coverage and let you know what to expect.
For students without coverage through campus programs, we work with Medi-Cal, Medicare, most commercial insurance, and offer sliding scale options.

Extending Your Counseling Center's Capacity

Campus counseling centers are doing vital work with impossible caseloads. You're not failing your students—the system is failing you. Wellity Health partners with colleges and universities to provide what counseling centers can't: immediate overflow capacity, psychiatric services, intensive programs, and specialized treatments.

We don't replace your counseling center. We extend what you can offer.

Track 1:
Public Institutions (Community Colleges, CSUs, UCs)
Primary Funding:
California's Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)

Through state grant funding, we provide comprehensive behavioral health services to eligible students at little to no cost to your institution or students. Services launching early 2026.

  • UCs looking to expand mental health access beyond counseling center capacity
Track 2:
Private Universities
Primary Funding:
